Theresa Shank a Philadelphia dietitian

I am Theresa , Philly’s Dietitian.

Theresa Shank, MS RD LDN, has been a licensed registered dietitian practicing in Philadelphia since 2010. She started her career as an outpatient dietitian at Einstein Healthcare Network and in 2015 established her own private consulting company, Philly Dietitian LLC. Theresa has worked one-on-one and in group settings with thousands of clients with varying needs such as weight loss, disease prevention and management, eating disorder counseling, sports nutrition, women’s health, childhood & adolescent weight management, plant-based nutrition, irritable bowel syndrome, and food allergies and intolerances.

Theresa has received a certificate in training from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management and Adult Weight Management Level I and Level II. In 2020, she successfully completed her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences through Oklahoma State University’s Distance Learning Program. Most recently in 2023, Theresa completed FODMAP training with Monash University, helping her to further specialize in gastrointestinal related conditions.


When Theresa is not spending time with her clients, she is an active food, nutrition and healthy living columnist for Philadelphia Media Network’s Personal Best Blog. Theresa began writing for Philly.com’s Personal Best Blog in 2014, starting with her own dining-out food series, where she critiqued popular bars and restaurants in the Philadelphia area based on their healthy menu selections. Theresa has been featured on: FOX29, 6abc Action News, PHL 17.


Theresa, while being a champion for healthful eating and exercise, believes that laughter, socializing, and a great glass of sauvignon blanc are never a bad thing. In her client sessions, Theresa will listen to your current lifestyle habits and nutritional goals in order to customize recommendations that are encouraging and work for you. She is a proponent for finding the balance that works in favor of attaining a healthy lifestyle while maintaining a feeling of normalcy and freedom from diet trends and calorie counting.
